Abel’s Lobster, a sister company to Bar Harbor Catering Company (BHCC), re-opened in June 2020 under the new ownership of Mandy Fountaine. The ocean-side restaurant caters to locals and tourists alike, with a new menu and revised vision for the historic restaurant.
For over 81 years, this hidden gem has delighted visitors with its warm, inviting atmosphere and exceptional seafood. Conveniently located near Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, Abel's Lobster is the perfect destination for those seeking an unforgettable dining experience.

Commitment to Sustainability and Our Community
At Abel's, we pride ourselves on serving fresh, locally sourced seafood with a modern twist. This upcoming 2025 season and beyond, we are pleased to be a part of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute’s Tastemakers. Currently, we use about 80% locally-sourced seafood with our goal to be at 100% by the end of this year! Using local fresh ingredients is a commitment to quality, sustainability, and community. When we use fresh, local produce, it results in dishes that are vibrant and full of life while supporting local farmers and small businesses—keeping money within the community and reducing the carbon footprint.

Mandy Fountaine
Mandy began her career in the local food and event industries over 20 years ago after graduating Phi Theta Kappa from Eastern Maine Community College with an Associate’s in Culinary Arts. In 2009, she gathered together a team of competent and like-minded professionals to establish Bar Harbor Catering Company. In 2016 she obtained her Certified Professional in Catering and Events certification and has participated in multiple business and entrepreneurial incubators and development programs across the state including Top Gun and Leadership Hancock County, to name a few.
Over the course of the last decade, Mandy and her team at BHCC have amassed an array of accolades which reflect their unparalleled dedication to their craft and a commitment to their motto “good enough isn’t enough” including the 2019 Business of the Year and 2017 Rising Star Business of the Year from the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce. BHCC was named in the top 25 Businesses and Top 3 Catering Companies in Maine in 2019 based on its impressive online reviews and reputation. In 2018 and 2015, BHCC was named Top 3 and Top 5 finalists respectively for the Catersource Awards in Catering Excellence, Eastern United States (Under 2M), one of only two Maine companies ever to be nominated.
