There aren't many places left on MDI where you can sit by the water, do nothing, and feel completely at ease. Abel's is one of them.
Finding Abel’s
Abel's Lobster sits inside the historic Henry R. Abel & Co. Boatyard on Mount Desert Island, a short 7-minute drive from Bar Harbor and Acadia, but a world away from both. We don't take reservations. Show up, find a spot, and stay as long as you want.
Getting Here
Arrive by car or pull up by boat. We have free parking and limited dock space for those coming in off the water. One less thing to think about.
When There’s a Wait
There often is, and we've made it worth it. We have a dedicated waterfront area with seating and games, and starting around 4 pm in high season, we open our outdoor bar just for the wait. A drink in hand, water in front of you, seals if you're lucky. There are worse ways to spend twenty minutes.
Island Time
We move at a different pace out here. The shore has a way of doing that. Plan to linger.
We're Dog Friendly
Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Ask your server for our puppy menu.
